About the Artist

Nik graduated in 2014 from the HKU University of the Arts in Utrecht, The Netherlands, with a Bachelor of Design in Illustration.

Since then he's been working as a freelance illustrator. So far his work has been featured in some local magazines and on a online platform, which he gets to work weekly for. Nik also does a lot of self initiated projects, either alone or with other illustrators.

Nik uses illustration to create an alternate world in which he can gave complete freedom. His work features a lot of characters and likes using humor to create absurd situations. Nik likes to work with a limited color palette and is very inspired by printing techniques like screenprinting. Drawing everything by hand, including the textures, and use a lightbox to incorporate color overlaying in the design. Afterwards he uses the computer purely as a tool to give everything color. It also gives him the freedom to mess around with the composition.

CultureLabel Collection

As part of the very first series of CultureLabel's Deckchair Collection and one of the winners of the Bridgeman Studio competition - held with Wilderness Festival, Bridgeman Studio and Creative Review.

Details

Frame:
- The frame is produced using a high quality wood moulding.
- The frame is mounted with a 5cm antique white mount. The print, mount, glazing and hardboard is all held in place using rigid metal tabs.
- On the reverse of the frame there is a metal hanging apparatus stamped directly into the hardboard which requires hammer a nail or screw into the wall, the metal hanger then sits directly over this.
-These framed prints aren't glass, to prevent damage in shipping we use styrene glazing.
