About the Photographer:
Derry started out doing work experience on his local paper in Portsmouth and ended up with a staff job after a few months. Moving on to working for most newspapers from The Sun to The Times covering news and sports until picking up a staff job on the Daily Mirror where he continued with news and sports until he taught himself how to light portraiture and moved in to the studio environment shooting fashion and celebrity portraits where he has carved out a unique niche photographing some amazing assignments and exceptional people. Derry’s style is that of a captured moment – usually literally and he should be counted amongst the foremost photographic portraitists working today.
"I started in photography working straight from school to a local newspaper. I then progressed to London and started freelancing for the national press shooting news and sport. I have covered the Bosnian war, FA Cup finals, John McCarthy and Terry Waites return from captivity but I really wanted the one to one interaction with the artist so gradually started to shoot portraits."
