Evans uses travel and exploration as a key motivator in her work. She comments:
‘Places recently visited, often unfamiliar, tend to be the catalyst for new work. Visiting with new eyes, great dollops of naivety, you see such wonderful things when it is all so new. We forget to look when we are at home.’
Often working on multiple pieces at one time, Evans lets ideas merge across different artworks, letting a resolution work itself out through action rather than theory. Motifs from one painting are often spotted, re-worked in another painting.
