RA 40 - Gillian Harding
Art on A4:
In partnership with the RA, CultureLabel created a competition for the Friends of the Royal Academy, to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the membership scheme.
The brief: Create a work of art on A4 that expresses what the Royal Academy of Arts mean to you?
The chosen artworks were selected by the judges Charles Saumarez-Smith, Chief Executive Officer of the RA, and Lucy Baxter, Commercial Director of CultureLabel - they carefully selected one winner and five runners up from over 100 excellent submissions!
This is one of six listings presenting these finalists - available now and in limited quantities.
'The RA means a great afternoon out for me and a lucky friend (my membership admits one other).
RA exhibitions are always exciting, varied and well curated. After enjoying the show, I love to visit the shop, then have coffee and cake whilst having a lively discussion on art. My top 3 favourite RA exhibitions have been Anish Kapoor with the explosive red wax everywhere... so wild, David Hockneys' A Bigger Picture... good to see so many landscapes in different media and then Ai Wei Wei as it was informative and thought provoking.
I must also mention the Summer Exhibition as I see so much inspiring work and also paintings that make me say "I could do that" ...but I didn't!'
