About the Artist
Laura Culham is a graduate of the Royal College of Art.
For some time Laura Culhams’ practice has involved working with sources from the periphery of general observation. She documents these unremarkable things as sensitively as possible, making the familiar precious and intriguing.
Engaging the viewer through laborious methodologies invites observation on an intimate level, where barely-there details have to be discovered, referencing the act of looking itself.Purity in display allows for whispers of detail to be seen, when not surrounded by the noise of the everyday.
About the Collection
From the collection Folio, created in response to works by Shakespeare by Royal College of Art Printmaking students, staff and invited artists to celebrate the Royal Shakespeare Company’s fiftieth birthday. These prints were originally displayed during a celebrated exhibition by the same name in 2011. The prints reflect the act of performing and making theatre, and how the works of Shakespeare are researched and received by a generation fluent in digital media. All proceeds from sales go towards supporting future students at the Royal College of Art.
