About the Artist
'Margin is a CYMK screenprint which is based on my sketchbook. Tucked in the book are some pages I cut out of a magazine and kept in the sketchbook for the past 5 years or so. I've travelled around various studios in several countries with these pages in my sketchbook. The magazine pages themselves are printed in litho[graphic] CYMK and are of a 15th-century Flemish tapestry which, at the time of printing, had recently been restored in a private collection. One day in the studio, I photographed the sketchbook with its edging of pages; to me, it summed up how I use anachronistic material in my own practise to rub up against newer ideas and material, how the past more generally is enveloped in the present, obscured and altered.
