About

A beaded skull hand made by Peyote People in Mexico. The skull reflects the geometric examples of Huichol Indian art.

Peyote People is a fair trade co-operative based in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; the home of the Huichol Indians. It is recognised for its commitment to promoting Huichol Indian artwork and preserving their customs and traditions.

On the Huichol Indians

Deep in the Sierra Madre Mountains of Western Mexico live the Huichol Indians. Very little is known about the exact origins of the Huichol, but today they are clinging to a set of customs and beliefs that make them one of the best preserved Pre-Columbian tribes in the Western Hemisphere. Bright and colourful bead art is one of their cultural traditions. These exquisite skulls are handmade by the Huichol Indian tribes and display the charms of this art form.

One-Of-A-Kind

A one-of-a-kind adornment for the home. Each skull is unique and reflects hours of skilled craftsmanship.
