About the Artist
Born in Glasgow in 1969, Donachie studied at The Glasgow School of Art before completing a Masters of Fine Art at Hunter College, New York in 1996. She has exhibited widely, solo exhibitions include: Slow Down Tokyobikes part of Festival 2014 at the XX Commonwealth Games; Jacqueline Donachie, Patricia Fleming Projects, Glasgow 2013; Weight, Leamington Spa Art Gallery (CAS purchase) 2012, Temple of Jackie, Radar, Loughborough University Arts, Loughborough 2011, Speedwork, public work for Glasgow International, Bellahouston Park, Glasgow 2010, Tomorrow Belongs to Me, Hunterian Museum, Glasgow (with Prof Darren Monckton) 2006, Green Place, Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester (Commission/ purchase by the Contemporary Art Society) 2004, and IASPIS, Stockholm (2002). Commissioned for Glasgow 2014 (Commonwealth Games).
She has undertaken several temporary commissions, including New Weather Coming, commissioned for Generation 25yrs of Contemporary Art in Scotland, 2014; Glasgow Slow Down, a VELOCITY commission, 2014 - both projects are part of the Glasgow 2014 Cultural programme for the XX Commonwealth Games. Slow Down has been presented previously: in Huntly, Aberdeenshire 2009 (commissioned by Deveron Arts) and in Melbourne, Australia 2013 (commissioned by the Australian Centre for Contemporary Arts). Donachie has permanent works at the Centre for Health Science in Inverness and locations across Glasgow. She was awarded a Paul Hamlyn Award for Visual Arts in 2005, and has work in several national and international museum collections.
