About the Artist
The convergence of seemingly mechanical or fabricated elements with the organic or anthropomorphic echoes the artist’s fabrication process –mechanically etched grayscale prints layered with incursions of fluidity and colour added later by hand.
Allusions to the body or the visceral alongside the industrial or machine-made, particularly in Recording Device, recall the works of Duchamp or Picabia and their exploration of automatism and the new machine age. The title Recording Device also makes a simultaneous self-reference to the process of print itself.
