In 2009, Greg Williams was commissioned to photograph guests as they arrived in the auditorium at the Orange British Academy Film Awards. In this photograph he has captured Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as they chat with other guests taking their seats.
That year, Angelina Jolie was nominated for Best Leading Actress for the Changeling, while Brad Pitt was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
In this series, Greg Williams was able to capture intimate moments from some of the biggest names in film.
This photograph is part of a new exhibition, The Director’s Cut: BAFTA Photography 2006–2016, curated by BAFTA Photography Director Janette Dalley. The exhibition shows a selection of Janette’s favourite images commissioned by BAFTA in her time as director.

Greg Williams is an English photographer and film director. He is known for his film and editorial work and as an early user of digital video technology.
Williams began his career as a war photographer before moving into film and editorial work which has been featured in Vogue Italia, GQ, Vanity Fair and Esquire.
His cinematic style of composition and lighting was originally cultivated as a reportage photographer working behind the scenes on feature films where he learnt lighting techniques from observing many of the world’s great cinematographers at their craft.
