American Princess (Stars and Stripes)
‘American Princess (Stars and Stripes)’ is the 4th in Copyright’s American Princess Series. The original painting was made for the artist debut USA solo show in March 2016 entitled ‘FABLES’. The show examines themes of life, birth and death, embracing the vibrancy of life, or the overwhelming sadness of loss. The Princess represents the ideal from the modern world and culture but with a twist often using imagery of beauty using flowers, butterflies and beautiful women. This piece portrays the Princess using fashion, music and popular culture and like many of Copyright’s works tell its own mini narrative.

About the Artist
Copyright has been daubing the streets of the UK with his trademark pink roses for years now and his work has been collected by the likes of Liam Howlett from the Prodigy. His paintings represent ideals from the modern world and culture, portrayed within classic imagery of simple beauty, often depicted by butterflies, flowers and beautiful women. His pictures represent a contradiction of idealism and unattainable visions of beauty found in fashion, music and popular culture. Fusing Street art, graffiti and more traditional styles he uses a mixture of classic painting techniques and spray can art. He creates print styles with stencils, depth with spray paint and texture with a paintbrush. Copyright sights his influences as Alfred Hitchcock, William Shakespeare, Banksy, Warhol and Pre Raphaelite artists.
