About the Artist
Eleanor Lines is a graduate of the Royal College of Art.
Born in South London, artist Eleanor Lines holds a MA in Fine Art (Printmaking) from the Royal College of Art and a BA Honours in Fine Art Printmaking from the University of Brighton.
Working across mediums, Eleanor's practice deconstructs virtual and cinematic languages. Considering the screen itself as a medium she explores boundaries of inside and outside, transparency and reflection. Collaged constructions take on architectural and crystalline forms and act as props taking stage within her work. Inspired by notions of the 'spectacle' and semiotics, her images allude to a 'happening' or architectural intervention. These often-fallible scenes, reminiscent of science fiction genres seem to reference a past, present and an imagined future. Materials and processes play an important role in her work as she uses these to echo and transcribe these themes.
About the Collection
From the collection Folio, created in response to works by Shakespeare by Royal College of Art Printmaking students, staff and invited artists to celebrate the Royal Shakespeare Company’s fiftieth birthday. These prints were originally displayed during a celebrated exhibition by the same name in 2011. The prints reflect the act of performing and making theatre, and how the works of Shakespeare are researched and received by a generation fluent in digital media. All proceeds from sales go towards supporting future students at the Royal College of Art.
