About the Stole
These luxury stoles are from the collection of artist Deepak Chowdhury. Each stole
showcases original photographic art on a blend of silk and wool, resulting in a
product that is unique in design, and immensely striking in composition and touch.
This stole is from the Art Portfolio titled Boundless.
At birth, she may be abandoned because she is not of the right gender. As a child, she may be deprived of an education because her future does not require it. As a girl, she may be subject to incest or rape, because the odds make it likely. As a young woman, she is married into a family of her parents’ choosing because it is the tradition. As a mother, she raises her children, organizes meals, and labors the fields because it is her calling.
Despite the odds, she rises above; despite the persecution, she perseveres. Who is she? She is the rural Indian woman, the mother of India, and the backbone of the nation.
This art portfolio celebrates these inspirational women, capturing their spirit, strength, dedication and character through their personal style — a fashion that is timeless, and without boundaries because it is not dependent on wealth. The color of their garb is remarkable; the grace with which it is worn, beyond compare.
About the Artist
Deepak left his professional career in 2007 to explore areas of passion that were outside the corporate world, and he found it in travel and photography. The breadth of Deepak’s photographic interests span a range of subjects, such as clouds, graffiti, temple art, ancient erotic sculpture, and the truck art of South Asia. He is also an ardent photographer of village life in India, which he primarily captures while travelling by car, his preferred mode of transport in the country.
Deepak has also begun exploring the area of composite art, which thoughtfully incorporates and combines his diverse range of photographic interests. This includes his portfolio titled “Impermanence,” which brings together images of clouds and graffiti from all over the world. He has recently added a series titled “Boundless,” which pays homage to the wondrously colourful style of the women in the towns and villages of India.
