The Curator's Choice: Rory Macpherson
This week we have called upon the skills of architectural and interior design expert Rory Macpherson, founder of Play Associates, to curate a very special collection.
Play are a multi disciplinary design practice specialising in interior architecture. They create intelligent, warm and atmospheric spaces that enhance the experience of everyday life. Rory believes in the power of colour, texture, natural materials and bringing natural elements into the built environment. We love this concept and are fast learning that with just a few tweaks to our homes and office, we could easily increase our productivity and well-being!
So without further ado, here are Rory's top picks for a happier and more harmonious you...
1. 'Lord Montague' Stretched Printed Canvas
In the right setting this print could add a surreal and unexpected touch of humour.
2. 3 Feet High and Rising
I always liked the artwork from this classic album. The colours and letterism captures the era and the positivity De La Soul brought with them.
3. Apartments Nice
I think there is something enchanting and hypnotic about the pattern found within this otherwise slightly glum brutalist setting.
4. Blue Jungle Plate Set
I love the simple yet exotic tone of these plates. They feel chic and escapist without being too dominant and could work well with various settings.
5. Body Parts
I think the artist has captured a beautiful pattern and shading effect within an unusual context.
6. Geometric Pendant Lamp, Half Glazed
These lights have a wonderful geometric shape and work very well as a set. I think terracotta is a timeless and characterful material and like how these have been given a contemporary a twist with the dip glazing.
7. Geometric Pot, Glazed
We have recently specified these in an office project and they look great! The geometric shape works well with organic plants sprouting from it.
8. K Lamp
I love the soft and organic shape and form of these unobtrusive lamps.
9. Laer Gaukur
This print seems to come to life with beautiful detailing and visual interest.
10. Copper Sun Clock
Designers have been promoting the use of varied metal finishes for a while and it seems now to have transcended down. It's one of the most popular trends for 2016.
