Top 5 Portraits of The Queen

Posted on April 20 2016

The 21st April marks the momentous 90th Birthday of Queen Elizabeth II.

To mark this historic milestone, we've curated a collection of our top five favourite artworks featuring Her Royal Highness.

From a punk make-over by Dex to a superheroine portrayal by Pixel, we are loving these contemporary twists on portraits of the record breaking Monarch.

1. Windsor Woman by Pixel, artrepublic

Pixel's tongue-in-cheek portrait of the British monarch is a witty play on the iconic comic book character and superheroine Wonder Woman; two powerful women combined into one potent print!

2. God Save The Queen by Dex, Run For The Hills

Her Majesty's famous silhouette given a punk make over. A limited edition fine art giclee print of the Queen's profile created with hand crafted lyrics from the Sex Pistol's classic song.

3. Queen by Prefab77, artrepublic

This piece is part of Prefab77's British inspired collection. This gorgeous silkscreen is finished with metallic gold paint and printed on 300gsm Somerset printmaking paper.

4. Great Britain by Justine Smith, TAG Fine Arts

This print features bank notes of red, white and blue from across the United Kingdom, which are included on a white pearlised screen printed 'Union Jack' background.

5. The Record Reign Portrait, Illustrated London News

This special commission by Alastair Barford, approved by Buckingham Palace, is the only portrait of her Majesty to mark the occasion of her becoming Britain’s longest reigning monarch.

A regal yet intimate portrait of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the Robes of the Order of the Garter as she attends the Garter Service at Windsor.
