This deluxe catalogue set was published in 2010 to celebrate the major international RSA exhibition 10 Dialogues: Richard Demarco, Scotland and the European Avant Garde, which was held last year in the magnificent RSA Upper Galleries in the centre of Edinburgh.
Included in the set:
- Limited edition screenprint - The Road To Dun Aengus - signed and dated by Richard Demarco
- The original exhibition catalogue
- One unique photograph from the Richard Demarco Digital Archive
- Printed envelope with caption for photograph hand written on rear
The 10 Dialogues exhibition featured the work of ten artists with whom Richard Demarco had sustained contact with during a particularly rich period in each of the artist's lives. The ten artists are: Marina Abramovic, Magdalena Abakanowicz, Josef Beuys, Tadeusz Kantor, Rory McEwen, Alistair MacLennan, David Mach, Paul Neagu, Gunther Uecker and Ainslie Yule. The catalogue is A3 sized and contains hundreds of full colour images plus large and informative essays on all ten artists, plus a foreword by the RSA President Bill Scott and a large preface and introduction by the RSA Secretary Arthur Watson and Dr Euan McArthur, both of whom have worked very closely with Richard Demarco over the years. The unique photograph is taken as a one-off reproduction from an original photo in the Demarco Digital Archive. Richard Demarco was a great documentarian and has a huge catalogue of wonderful photos of these ten artists, often in the process of performing or creating their works, or caught at a particularly notable time. The photographs are all different and will not be reproduced further. The caption for each photograph is hand written on the rear of the printed envelope. This deluxe catalogue is truly a collector's item and, priced at £80 and limited to 80 versions, also represents terrific value for money. It is a must for anyone interested in the extraordinary life of Richard Demarco, any of the ten artists featured in the 10 Dialogues exhibition or, indeed, anybody interested in 20th-century contemporary European art.
