With the appraoch of Remembrance day this November, CultureLabel is pinning on its poppy and thinking about the connection between art and conflict.

We are very proud to be able to intrdouce our brand new collaboration with MemoryPrints this Novemeber.

MemoryPrints have teamed up with the Imperial War Museum to create a stunning range of prints from the IWM archives and it was these emotive images that became our inspiration for taking time to remember soldiers bravery and the significance of how we identify with conflict through art.

    Introducing The Imperial War Museum

The Imperial War Museum explores how the history of modern conflict affects us all, from the front line to the home front with exhibits ranging from tanks and aircraft to photographs and personal letters.

The Imperial War Museum and Memoryprints have now come together to bring a striking range of images from the IWM archives to life as stunning collectable prints.

'Conflict and art have a much closer relationship, I feel, than we are first led to believe. Throughout history, men and women have expressed themselves through art – with the horror and sacrifice they have experienced, but also in the camaraderie and beauty in the environment and people they might find themselves around'.

'After my experience in Afghanistan, I soon realised how powerful art could be. Finding beauty around me when taking my photographs was an escape from the grim reality'.

'This is what I wanted to partly express in my images…the beauty that is always around us; the femininity present in the machismo world of conflict but not always shown in war zones; the irony of human actions and how something as beautiful and innocent as a poppy can be symbolized, used, misused and mistaken'.
