Discovery Channel Meets Running Subway

NY Times Square is going to turn cultural in a very big way beginning the 24th June. Travelling exhibitions “Titanic” and “Tutankamun” will plant their roots in the enormous space - imagine 2 football pitches across 2 floors. Of course we wouldn’t expect anything less than this new venture, teaming The Discovery Channel with Running Subway, to be as much a blockbuster extravaganza as you would get from a Hollywood movie; not only for it’s vast size but it’s ambition to recreate the channel’s experiential and immersive programming style. The exhibitions will feature original artefacts from historical and cultural events, some never shown to the public, beginning with “Titanic” and “Lucy’s Legacy: The Hidden Treasures of Ethiopia” with two more scheduled for Spring 2010.

Controversy surrounds the forthcoming scheduled shows because of opinion that some artefacts will be irreparably damaged in the process but perhaps more interestingly; there are whispers circulating about the overall cost of the exhibitions as Executive Producer of Running Subway, James Sanna is keeping very tight-lipped.

If only the team at IntelligentNaivety could jet off to the big A to experience it first hand but we shall keep you updated with images of the first shows somehow, readers. Don’t forget to check back.
