Blow Up 5050

Before we visit the Walt Disney Museum, we’re doing a short trip to Poland to stay in the concept-hotel-come-installation-come-participatory-digital-art-experince, BlowUp5050. The hotel comes equipped with the usual rooms, beds and mini-bars (a hotel without those might be one concept too far), however it’s built around a focal installation by electronic artist, Rafael Lozano Hemmer, that uses thousands of cameras to transform guests into a responsive part of the art and part of the very fabric of the hotel. The digital aspect is extended to the room keys, which are iPhones individually programmed according to guests’ needs, rather like a digital concierge, and which open doors using magical recognition software.
