Secret Garden Party 2010
Date: 22-25 July 2010
Address: near Cambridge
Freddie Fellowes, founder of the Secret Garden Party and CVTF500 member, has invited Courvoisier to create a landmark installation at this year’s iconic festival. Seizing the opportunity to take Courvoisier’s Summer Of Punch to a new level, they’ve whipped up an engineering extravaganza to quench the thirst of every Secret Garden Party reveller: pedal-powered punch. Built by Circus Kinetica, the machine is part of the ‘Fact or Fiction’ theme of the 2010 festival. To be unveiled at the Secret Garden Party opening ceremony on 22 July, it will continue to whirr throughout the weekend under the guidance of performers from Gideon Reeling Theatre Company.

The 2010 Theme…
The Party is once again set to undergo a transformation, with this years theme unveiled as Fact or Fiction, tearing down the boundaries between the two assumptions.
In 2010 The Secret Garden Party will be prizing open the chinks in man’s most carefully constructed edifice; Reality. The Garden will be exploring the theories, fantasies, mysteries, legends, visions and illusions that have created a rich world between Fact and Fiction.
The Kinetic Punch Distillery
This beautiful, towering, kinetic punch-making sculpture-cum-foutain has been especially commissioned for The Garden. Twenty feet tall, made from salvaged copper and reclaimed metal, the machine sits in brooding expectation, a gentle thrumming of potential. Gardeners board the bikes to activate the installation and the French Revolution Courvoisier punch is pumped to the top of the helixes and fountains. Slowly it starts filling the small top reservoir and begins trickling then pouring around the helix, decanting from pool to pool as it works its way to your glass. The punch machine leaps into action with lime guillotine, ice smasher and glass holder all wheeling into action at once to make your perfect drink.
-Circus Kinetika are a Brighton based collective who have created this amazing cocktail-making machine using old salvaged metal parts including bike parts.
