Sothebys with Love Art London
CultureLabel was very excited to experience Sothebys in a very special way on Thursday night with our favourite fellow cultural lovers, Love Art London. As regular readers to our blog know, we reported on Love Art Londons first night at the Haunch Of Venison last month and we were delighted to get to be part of another one. Love Art London offers after-hours access and exclusive tours of some of London’s best collections and exhibitions.
Poppy (Art expert extraordinaire from Sothebys) and Chris (ex-Sotheby’s paintings expert and founder of Love Art London) took us on an amazing behind the scenes tour of the renowned art auctioneers 20th Century British Art sale as Poppy blew us away with some great insider stories, explained how to spot a fake and even allowed us to touch the art!
It was such a refreshing look at art with none of the snobbiness and all of the fun.
We were actively encouraged to actually touch the paintings and even take a peek behind them.
Everyone was giggling with nervousness at the beginning but soon got involved and became less inhibited about reaching out and handling the objects while Poppy provided us with an insightful and entertaining glimpse into what really goes on behind the scenes.
We can say with our hands on our hearts that this one evening was worth the monthly membership of just £25 alone!
