Keeping up with emerging trends in video marketing, Tate Publishing have created a range of mini ‘teaser’ animations to accompany the sale of books on Tate’s online store. This short film offers a fast track tour through the dizzying universe of David Carter’s bright and punchy pop culture publication 600 Black Spots. Renowned as the man who put the POP into POP-UP with his international best seller One Red Dot, Carter’s latest publication is a paper masterpiece that cannot fail to impress. Animation is the ideal medium to showcase the book online, bringing it to life as 600 black spots slip, spin, swirl and slide their way across the pages accompanied by a rather jolly tune. This cute, retro style clip provides shoppers with a genuine feel for the book as they browse online, making the Tate Online shopping experience an entertaining journey in itself. 600 Black Spots available at the Tate Online shop

It’s an interesting notion. Do modern art galleries not satisfy our intellectual needs as well as providing cultural entertainment? As the Luxist Blog asks “Is it as simple as modern art is to be enjoyed and the classics are to be appreciated?” A good debate topic we think.

Definitely another culture shop to put on your hit list. Looking more like a luxury curated retail space rather than a gallery shop, the Gagosian Boutique really ups the ante when it comes to new gallery retail experiences.
