Royal Academy of Arts

The Royal Academy of Arts has a unique position in British cultural life as an independent, privately funded institution led by eminent artists and architects. Founded in 1768 by George III, The Royal Academy continues to aspire, in the words of its eighteenth-century founding Members, 'to promote the arts of design' - presenting a broad range of visual art to the widest possible audience through its exhibitions; stimulating debate, understanding and creation through education, and providing a focus for the interests of artists and art lovers.

The Royal Academy is a charity and raises funds through exhibition ticketing, the Academy Shop and RA Restaurant. The shop features many unique and exclusive products created with and inspired by Royal Academicians (all practicing artists and architects), along with a wide selection of books, exhibition catalogues and gifts chosen to reflect current exhibitions.

Upcoming exhibitions at the Royal Academy include Anish Kapoor, 26 September - 11 December 2009, Wild Thing, 24 October 2009- 24 January 2010 and Van Gogh: The Artist and his Letters, 23 January- 18 April 2010.
